lexicographer

the unspoken language
a kiss has a million nuances
a touch is like a Russian novel
a whisper like a sonnet
and I cannot parse
the entirety of it
not were I a lexicographer
with a million billion notecards
scribbling down as data
every inferred word
for their definitions shift
as I try to pin them to paper
a lonely lepidopterist of longing

  1. I had to look this one up: lep·i·dop·ter·ist
    ˌlepəˈdäpt(ə)rəst/
    noun
    noun: lepidopterist; plural noun: lepidopterists

a person who studies or collects butterflies and moths.

I love how many new words I learn from you :)

  2. I love words like that. A lot of the ologist, opterists, ophile type words are great, I love a good suffix.

  3. Well really, the suffixes are they ists and the phile...also, fun fact, "pter" means winged, and is the same root as found in helicopter.
