situated on the shelf
but in their midst
a bit of one who left
naught of himself
he left a gimcrack
shiny and distracting
in hopes of counteracting
the damage he inflicted on
the Hummel figurines
the Tiffany lamps
the Faberge eggs of joy
he smashed them
and replaced them
with a broken toy
