Kafkaesque

the discordant buzz
of a million flies swarming
the woeful wails
of a planeful of babies
the grim grind
of dentist drills
of styrofoam squeaking
of anxiety peaking
hang in my hearing
in the Kafkaesque pause
after the explanation
of me as exemplar 
right before the
"but"
