a year in which
the zeitgeist has been
loaded with derision
with anxiety
and with hatred
and by those who seek division
yet in this morass I found
solace and safety
in the arms of one
who held me lately
in the letting go
of anger
in the making of amends
in the comfort of my family
in the smiles of my friends
I cannot fix
the world at large
the best that I can do
is recognize the magic
that resides in me
resides in you
