cling to any shred
the most frayed thread
any link in any broken chain
hope or despair to sustain

as long as something reaffirms
the sense inside of truth
regardless of reality or sense
the rumors will abide
verity derided as pretense

and those who debunk
who raise the false hoods
that block out the light
shining on those
who would rather not see
are not for their efforts praised
